WILSON RIVER: Winter steelhead
Steelhead fishing on the Wilson River slowed over the weekend, probably due to it dropping to low and clear conditions. Some rain today may revitalize the fishery for a day or two, but it will back to those low and clear conditions by the weekend. If you do decide to target the Wilson River, light line and subtle, dark colored, terminal presentations may up the odds of success. In addition, low water conditions are a good time to break out the plugs or hardware (spoons or spinners) and try to entice a territorial bite. The lower river is mostly a drift boat fishery but there is plenty of bank access higher up off of Highway 6. Last updated 3/24/26.

WILSON RIVER: Winter steelhead
The Wilson River dropped into great angling condition today and should stay good through the weekend. The dropping flows after high water should have fish on the move and fresh fish coming in which usually makes for good fishing. The Wilson has one of our largest hatchery steelhead releases and is should be a top pick for those wanting to catch a keeper this time of year; the lower river is mostly a drift boat fishery but there is plenty of bank access higher up off of Highway 6.
